Simplyhealth launches discounted digital dermatology consultations reducing waiting times and work absences
Addition of MySkinDoctor to Simplyhealth’s Health Plan makes diagnosing skin conditions – from moles to acne - more affordable and accessible
Simplyhealth, the leading Health Plan provider, is adding a new skin health service to its quality-assured healthcare journeys, providing quick, discounted access to skin conditions support, to help with anything from checking suspicious moles to supporting with acne, and rashes.
The new service, provided by MySkinDoctor, enables customers to access online dermatology support remotely via their smartphone or tablet, without the need to visit a clinic. Customers can upload photographs of their skin concern for a highly qualified team of experienced consultant dermatologists to review, and receive a diagnosis, treatment plan or reassurance within three working days. Faster access to diagnosis of skin conditions means people can access treatment to start their recovery sooner and avoid current lengthy wait times, where 40% of people are waiting more than 18 weeks to start dermatology treatment on the NHS (NHS England).
Skin concerns are one of the top three reasons for people taking time off work in one in five organisations (19%)* according to our recent survey of HR professionals. The most common skin problems resulting in employees taking time off work are eczema, acne and rashes, all of which and more can receive a diagnosis, treatment plan or reassurance from an experienced dermatologist within three working days via this new digital offering.
Simplyhealth Health Plan customers have access to an exclusive price of £53 on digital dermatology consultations vs £105 standard rate, and £250 for an average face to face consultation**. Those with a diagnostics pot in their plan can then claim back the cost.
The discounted skin health services are available to all Simplyhealth Health Plan customers immediately – individuals and businesses partners – and can be accessed from within the SimplyPlan app or Simplyhealth customer portal, 24/7.
This is the latest in a series of innovations offered to Simplyhealth Health Plan customers. Over the past 12 months the health insurer has launched a wide range of new services for customers including discounted eye care, frames and lenses, alongside digital muscle and joint pain (MSK) assessments and self-management, and discounted services for physiotherapy, imaging and at home blood diagnostics, and women’s health products and services. All Simplyhealth’s services alongside its cash benefits can be accessed through the SimplyPlan app and Web Portal.
Simplyhealth is on a mission to prevent people being off work on long-term sick by offering low-cost health solutions for the most common everyday health issues, and with 5% of people reporting they have taken some sick leave over the last twelve months for skin problems*, and 9% of skilled manual workers being the most likely to take time off work*, this new offering will be a vital service for all businesses in the UK.
Diagnosing and treating skin conditions quickly enables people to get back to work and on with their lives as soon as possible. We know 25% of all GP appointments are related to skin conditions, so by giving people access to a dermatologist via our Health Plan we are also helping reduce pressure on the NHS. By joining forces with MySkinDoctor, customers can treat their conditions without having to wait weeks or months, and fund them via claim-backs and discounts. This is all part of our continuous innovation bringing more services to our Health Plan.
