Simplyhealth shows support with donations for communities affected by hearing conditions
As part of their ongoing investment to improve health, and support local and national community groups in the UK, Simplyhealth has made a significant donation to two deafness and hearing loss charities.
Simplyhealth’s donation of £30,000, split equally between the National Deaf Children’s Society and Action on Hearing Loss (formerly RNID) will help to support children and adults who are living with deafness, hearing loss, and tinnitus. There are an estimated 12 million deaf adults and 50,000 deaf children in the UK, and these organisations work with them to overcome the many challenges that they currently face in their day to day lives or while at work, school, or trying to access healthcare during the current environment.
Our continued investment in the healthcare industry and giving back to our local communities is more important now than ever as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Purpose is to provide access to healthcare for the many, and we continually work in close partnership with our charity partners to see how we can help make a long term difference to people’s lives and to improve their everyday health.
We have supported a number of hearing loss charities since 2015 so I am delighted that we can continue this help at such a difficult time for families and the charities who provide support for them.
Romana Abdin, Chief Executive at Simplyhealth
With many charities complementing the NHS, these hearing charities provide advice, guidance and therapies to help the many people across the UK who suffer from hearing loss, to hear and speak, as well as providing vital research into new interventions.
I want to say a huge thank you to the fabulous team at Simplyhealth for this wonderful gift. The UK’s 50,000 deaf children are being impacted by this pandemic in a huge number of different ways. We’ve seen key support reduced, communication become a huge challenge because of face masks, and months without education because of online lessons being completely inaccessible for many deaf children.
Because of this incredible donation from Simplyhealth, we can continue to provide our transformative services for families up and down the country, continue to break down the barriers these deaf children face each day, and help to make sure no deaf child grows up lonely, isolated or without the support they need.

We could not be more thrilled to receive this generous donation from Simplyhealth. Donations such as this are a lifeline for our charity and will be carefully used to fund the crucial work we do supporting people with deafness, tinnitus and hearing loss, including our pioneering biomedical research.

Simplyhealth staff have also been fundraising internally with a ‘Name that Sound’ challenge. Over ten days, staff have been given a sound to listen to, where each guess unlocks a £5 donation. A total of £2,540 was fundraised, in addition to Simplyhealth’s £30,000 donation, which will be split equally to both charities.
