Simplyhealth donates over £4000 to Winchester charity
Staff at Simplyhealth were inspired by this year’s Olympics to fundraise for Winchester Go LD, a small local charity supporting adults with learning disabilities and their families in the Winchester area.
Over £4,000 was donated which included sponsorship of £2,847 for Winchester Go LD’s annual ‘Paralympic Personal Bests’ event. Simplyhealth staff raised a further £1,165 for vital funds towards the charity’s Thursday fitness classes - online group sessions set up during lockdown to help members exercise and have fun.
As part of Simplyhealth’s ‘Summer of Sport - Bring on the Games’ challenge, staff channelled their inner athlete by getting out and active – some taking part in adventurous activities ranging from kayaking and paddle boarding to skiing and football golf. Every photo or video of their pursuits shared internally generated a £5 donation from Simplyhealth.
Thank you to all the staff at Simplyhealth who supported and raised money for our Thursday fitness classes. Due to popular demand we’d love to keep them running because as well as improving physical fitness, the sessions are a great way for everyone to socially connect, improve digital skills and for us to welcome new members.

Go LD members will be using the weekly fitness classes to prepare for their annual ‘Paralympic Personal Bests’ event in October, a non-competitive, all inclusive, multi-activity sports day. Members will be able to take part in rugby, football, swimming, athletics, cricket, squash, low-level circuits and climbing. The large community event is co-hosted and organised by Winchester Go LD and includes people with learning disabilities countywide. The event also provides the opportunity for parents and carers to meet and share experiences.
Simplyhealth have been a huge supporter of Paralympic Personal Bests over the years in terms of both providing sponsorship and volunteers and we are delighted that they are involved again this year. The popularity and growth of this event over nine years is just one measure of its success. The enthusiasm, commitment, and eager anticipation from our members further demonstrates its value.

A group of Simplyhealth employees have signed up to help at the event in October via SimplyVolunteer, an internal platform provided and developed by Do-it.org, the nation’s first and largest digital volunteer matching site. They will join other volunteers ranging from sixth form students to retired teachers, bank managers, parents and supporters.
Supporting local causes and building healthier communities are always at the heart of Simplyhealth’s purpose so we are delighted to be able to support Winchester Go LD through our colleagues’ fundraising. Our team very much enjoyed getting active to help raise money for the Thursday fitness classes and are looking forward to volunteering at the ‘Paralympic Personal Bests’ event in October.
