Local company Simplyhealth donate over £100,000 to mental health charity

Simplyhealth, a leading health solutions company launched their Take A Breath campaign during Mental Health Awareness Week 2021.

Over £100,000 was donated to support the Mental Health Foundation and their Blue Prescribing project. This initiative aims to tackle poor mental health through hands-on, nature-based activities and will see 300 people needing mental health interventions given access to wetlands nature.

To help people to look after their mental health, Simplyhealth, in collaboration with McFly musician Harry Judd, and the Mental Health Foundation, created a free downloadable e-book titled ‘Take A Breath’, which triggered a £5 donation for every download.

Staff at Simplyhealth have also been enthusiastically fundraising and took part in three activities to raise vital funds for the charity:

  • Alongside other SimplyMe app users, staff logged their walks using the ‘Go Green for 7 days’ activity, where each walk generated a £5 donation.

  • Internally, staff were also encouraged to download the free e-book created for the campaign, which included hints, tips, and the benefits of nature on our wellbeing. A £5 donation was created for every download, raising £1,390.

  • Finally, staff were asked to connect with nature by getting out and about and taking a selfie to share on internal channels generating a £10 donation. A total of 274 photos were shared, raising £2,740 for the Mental Health Foundation.

All staff were also entered into a prize draw where ten lucky winners were able to win National Trust or Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust Annual Memberships to continue to enjoy and connect with nature beyond the campaign.

The internal fundraising activity aligned with the wider PR campaign by Simplyhealth which shines a light on how connecting with the natural world can support our mental wellbeing. The e-book, which is free to download from the Simplyhealth website is packed full of ideas, exercises and activities to inspire readers to connect with nature. It includes personal anecdotes and advice from mental health champion Harry Judd, and insight from the Mental Health Foundation into the link between nature and wellbeing.

Thank you to all the staff at Simplyhealth for everything they have done to support Mental Health Awareness Week and raising vital cash for the Mental Health Foundation through taking part in all the fundraising activities. Thank you for supporting the Mental Health Foundation and enabling us to help more people improve their mental health.
